Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup sugar or honey

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, bring the water to a boil.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the cornmeal with 1 cup of cold water to form a smooth paste.
  3. Gradually pour the cornmeal mixture into the boiling water, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  4. Add the salt and ground cinnamon, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the porridge thickens.
  5. Stir in the sugar or honey to sweeten the porridge, adjusting to taste.
  6. Remove from heat and let the porridge cool slightly before serving.
