Cottage Cheese In Butter Sauce (paneer Butter Masala)
Cottage Cheese in Butter Sauce, also known as Paneer Butter Masala, is a popular dish in Jain Cuisine that is rich, creamy, and full of flavor. It is a perfect main course option for special occasions or gatherings.
Ingredients
- 400g cottage cheese (paneer), cubed
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 cup tomato puree
- 1/2 cup cashew paste
- 1 cup fresh cream
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 1 tsp green chili paste
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
Instructions
- Heat 1 tbsp of butter in a pan and add the cottage cheese cubes. Sauté until they turn golden brown. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the remaining butter and ginger paste. Sauté for a minute, then add the tomato puree and cook until the butter separates.
- Add the cashew paste, green chili paste, sugar, garam masala, and salt. Cook for a few minutes, then add water as needed to adjust the consistency.
- Add the sautéed cottage cheese cubes and kasuri methi. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Finally, add the fresh cream and mix well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes and then remove from heat.
