Cottage Cheese Tikka Masala (rich Paneer Tikka Masala)

Ingredients

  • 400g cottage cheese, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, ground coriander, ground cumin, and salt. Add the cottage cheese cubes and marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat butter in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the mixture.
  4. Add the marinated cottage cheese cubes and cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream and simmer for another 5 minutes.
  6. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
