Coxinha De Carne (beef Croquettes)
Coxinha de Carne, also known as Beef Croquettes, is a popular snack in Goan Catholic Cuisine. These delicious deep-fried croquettes are filled with seasoned ground beef and are perfect for serving at parties or as a teatime snack.
Ingredients
- 500g ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 cups breadcrumbs
- 3 eggs, beaten
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a pan, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is soft.
- Add the cumin powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Add water and simmer until the water evaporates and the beef is dry. Allow it to cool.
- Take a small portion of the beef mixture and shape it into a small drumstick-like cone.
- Roll the beef cone in flour, dip it in beaten egg, and then coat it with breadcrumbs.
- Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the beef croquettes until golden brown.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with ketchup or hot sauce.
