Crab Ghee Roast
Crab Ghee Roast is a classic dish from Mangalurean Catholic Cuisine, known for its rich and spicy flavors. This dish is a perfect blend of succulent crab meat and aromatic spices, cooked to perfection in ghee.
Ingredients
- 500g crab meat
- 2 tbsp ghee
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 4-5 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tbsp red chili powder
- 1 tbsp tamarind paste
- Salt to taste
- Coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add minced garlic and grated ginger, and cook for a few minutes until the raw smell disappears.
- Now, add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and tamarind paste. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the crab meat and salt. Cook for 10-15 minutes on medium heat until the crab is fully cooked and the masala coats the meat.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
