Creamy Chicken Lyonnaise
Creamy Chicken Lyonnaise is a classic dish from Lyonnaise cuisine that features tender chicken in a rich and creamy sauce, flavored with caramelized onions and a hint of white wine.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the chicken breasts and cook for 6-7 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook over medium heat until caramelized, about 10 minutes.
- Pour in the white wine and cook for 2 minutes, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
- Add the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Stir in the heavy cream and return the chicken breasts to the skillet. Simmer for another 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Serve the creamy chicken Lyonnaise hot, with the caramelized onions and sauce spooned over the chicken.
