Creamy Palak Paneer

Ingredients

  • 500g fresh spinach, washed and chopped
  • 200g paneer, cubed
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 2 green chilies, chopped
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter) or oil

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add grated ginger, minced garlic, and green chilies. Sauté for a minute.
  3. Now, add the pureed tomatoes and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
  4. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add the chopped spinach and cook until it wilts down.
  6. Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool down. Then, blend it into a smooth puree.
  7. Transfer the pureed spinach back to the pan and add the cubed paneer. Cook for 5 minutes.
  8. Stir in the heavy cream and let it simmer for a few minutes until the desired consistency is reached.
  9. Season with salt and serve hot with naan or rice.
