Creamy Rice Pudding with Rosewater (Güllaç)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup crushed walnuts
  • 1 tablespoon rosewater
  • 6 güllaç sheets (thin pastry sheets)
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice and cook it in milk until soft.
  2. Add sugar and crushed walnuts to the rice pudding and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the rosewater and let the pudding cool slightly.
  4. In a separate bowl, soak the güllaç sheets in water for a few minutes until soft.
  5. Layer the güllaç sheets in a serving dish, alternating with the rice pudding mixture.
  6. Refrigerate the güllaç for at least 2 hours before serving.
