Creamy Sambar Magic
Creamy Sambar Magic is a traditional South Indian dish that combines the rich flavors of sambar with a creamy twist. This recipe is perfect for those who love the classic flavors of sambar but also enjoy a creamy texture in their dishes.
Ingredients
- 1 cup toor dal
- 1 cup mixed vegetables (carrot, drumstick, eggplant, okra)
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 1 tsp sambar powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 2-3 dry red chilies
- A few curry leaves
- 2 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Pressure cook the toor dal with the mixed vegetables, turmeric powder, and salt until soft.
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dry red chilies, and curry leaves. Sauté until the seeds crackle.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
- Add sambar powder and sauté for a minute.
- Add the cooked dal and vegetables to the pan. Mix well and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
- Pour in the coconut milk and mix well. Simmer for another 5 minutes.
- Adjust the seasoning and consistency as needed.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or idli.
