Creamy Spinach and Potato Gratin (Cremiges Spinat-Kartoffel-Gratin)

Ingredients

  • 500g spinach, washed and chopped
  • 1kg potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 200g grated Gouda cheese
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the chopped spinach, minced garlic, and heavy cream. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish. Pour half of the spinach and cream mixture over the potatoes. Sprinkle half of the grated Gouda cheese on top.
  4. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, spinach and cream mixture, and Gouda cheese.
  5. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  6. Let the gratin rest for 10 minutes before serving.
