Beignets de crabe à la créole, or Creole Style Crab Cakes, are a delicious and flavorful dish from French Guianan cuisine. These crab cakes are seasoned with a blend of Creole spices and herbs, creating a perfect balance of flavors.
Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh crab meat
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, finely diced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tsp Creole seasoning
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the crab meat, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, beaten egg, green onions, red bell pepper, parsley, Creole seasoning, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Form the crab mixture into 6 equal-sized patties and place them on a plate.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Carefully place the crab cakes in the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the crab cakes from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- Serve the crab cakes hot, garnished with additional chopped parsley and a side of remoulade sauce.
