Ingredients
- 1 cup raw rice
- 1/4 cup grated coconut
- 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- Salt to taste
- 1 cup coconut milk
Instructions
- Soak the raw rice in water for 4-5 hours.
- Grind the soaked rice and grated coconut to a smooth batter.
- Dissolve yeast and sugar in 2 tbsp of warm water and mix it into the batter. Let it ferment for 6-8 hours.
- Add salt to the batter and mix well.
- Heat an appam pan, pour a ladle of batter, and swirl the pan to spread the batter evenly. Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes until the edges turn crispy.
- Serve the crispy appam with coconut milk.
