Ingredients
- 1 whole duck, about 5 pounds
- 1 tablespoon five-spice powder
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon white pepper
- 4 green onions, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 4 slices fresh ginger
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Shaoxing wine
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Rinse the duck and pat dry. Trim off any excess fat.
- In a small bowl, mix the five-spice powder, salt, and white pepper. Rub the mixture all over the duck, inside and out.
- Stuff the cavity of the duck with green onions and ginger.
- Place the duck on a rack in a roasting pan and roast for 1 hour.
- In a small saucepan, heat the honey, soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, and rice vinegar until combined.
- After the duck has roasted for 1 hour, brush the honey glaze all over the duck.
- Return the duck to the oven and roast for another 1 hour, or until the skin is crispy and golden brown.
- Let the duck rest for 10 minutes before carving and serving.
