Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu, cut into cubes
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Chinese black vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon Sichuan peppercorns
- 1 teaspoon chili flakes
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Press the tofu cubes between paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- Coat the tofu cubes in cornstarch, shaking off any excess.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the tofu cubes until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
- In a separate pan, heat a little oil and sauté the green onions and garlic until fragrant.
- Add the soy sauce, Chinese black vinegar, sugar, Sichuan peppercorns, and chili flakes to the pan. Stir in the water and simmer for a few minutes.
- Pour the spicy sauce over the crispy fried tofu and serve hot.
