Crispy Lentil Fritters (korivi Garelu)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup urad dal (black gram lentils), soaked for 4 hours
  • 2-3 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Drain the soaked urad dal and grind it into a smooth batter using minimal water.
  2. Transfer the batter to a mixing bowl and add green chilies, ginger, cumin seeds, onions, coriander leaves, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  4. Scoop a small portion of the batter and gently drop it into the hot oil using your fingers or a spoon.
  5. Fry the fritters until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove the fritters from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
