Crispy Medu Vada
Crispy Medu Vada is a popular South Indian snack made from urad dal batter, flavored with spices, and deep-fried to golden perfection. It is a delicious and crispy treat that is perfect for any time of the day.
Ingredients
- 2 cups urad dal (black gram)
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 10-12 curry leaves, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh coriander leaves
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- Wash and soak the urad dal in water for 4-5 hours.
- Drain the water and grind the dal into a smooth batter using very little water.
- Add ginger, green chilies, cumin seeds, curry leaves, coriander leaves, and salt to the batter. Mix well.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan.
- Wet your hands, take a small portion of the batter, and shape it into a round disc with a hole in the center.
- Gently slide the vada into the hot oil and fry until golden and crispy.
- Remove the vada from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.
