Crispy Vegetable Pakoras
Crispy Vegetable Pakoras are a popular Anglo-Indian snack made with a variety of vegetables coated in a spiced chickpea flour batter and deep-fried until crispy and golden brown.
Ingredients
- 1 cup chickpea flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 cups mixed vegetables (such as onions, potatoes, cauliflower, spinach)
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix chickpea flour, cumin, coriander, turmeric, chili powder, salt, and water to form a smooth batter.
- Add the mixed vegetables to the batter and coat them evenly.
- Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
- Drop spoonfuls of the vegetable mixture into the hot oil and fry until golden and crispy.
- Remove the pakoras from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
