Crispy Wattleseed Duck (脆皮瓦特尔子鸭)
This recipe combines the flavors of Australian and Chinese cuisine to create a delicious and crispy Wattleseed Duck dish.
Ingredients
- 1 whole duck, about 4 lbs
- 2 tablespoons Wattleseed
- 1 tablespoon Chinese five-spice powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 piece ginger, about 2 inches, grated
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, mix together the Wattleseed, Chinese five-spice powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Rub the duck inside and out with the spice mixture.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and green onions.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear the duck on all sides until browned, about 5 minutes per side.
- Transfer the duck to a roasting pan and brush with the soy sauce mixture.
- Roast in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the duck is crispy and cooked through.
- Let the duck rest for 10 minutes before carving.
- Serve the crispy Wattleseed duck with steamed rice and stir-fried vegetables.
