Hrvatski štrudel s sirom, or Croatian Cheese Strudel, is a delicious pastry filled with a creamy cheese mixture. This traditional Croatian dish is perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a sweet treat with coffee.
Ingredients
- 1 package of phyllo dough
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 1 cup feta cheese, crumbled
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix together the cottage cheese, feta cheese, sour cream, and sugar until well combined.
- Place one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush it with melted butter. Sprinkle with bread crumbs.
- Repeat the process with 3 more sheets of phyllo dough, stacking each one on top of the other.
- Spread the cheese mixture along the long edge of the phyllo dough, leaving some space at the edges.
- Roll up the phyllo dough, tucking in the edges as you go, to form a strudel.
- Place the strudel on a baking sheet and brush the top with melted butter.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
