Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 5-6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Press two-thirds of the crumb mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch tart pan. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples with the brown sugar and flour. Arrange the apple slices in the prepared tart crust.
- Drizzle the melted butter over the apples. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture evenly over the top.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the apples are tender.
- Allow the tart to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.
