Crunchy Cabbage Palya (ಎಲೆಕೋಸು ಪಲ್ಯ)
ಎಲೆಕೋಸು ಪಲ್ಯ (Crunchy Cabbage Palya) is a traditional Udupi dish that is quick and easy to make. It is a delicious side dish that pairs well with rice or roti.
Ingredients
- 4 cups finely chopped cabbage
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 2 tbsp grated coconut
- 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add cumin seeds.
- Add chopped onions and green chilies. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.
- Add the finely chopped cabbage, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Cover and cook on medium heat for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is cooked but still crunchy.
- Add grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves. Mix well and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and serve hot with rice or roti.
