Crunchy Masala Puri (ಮಸಾಲ ಪೂರಿ)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup semolina
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  • 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Water for kneading
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, semolina, chopped onions, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt.
  2. Add water gradually and knead the mixture into a firm dough.
  3. Divide the dough into small lemon-sized balls and roll them out into small puris using a rolling pin.
  4. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  5. Gently slide the rolled puris into the hot oil and fry until they puff up and turn golden brown on both sides.
  6. Remove the puris from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  7. Repeat the process for the remaining dough balls.
  8. Serve the crunchy masala puris hot with chutney or pickle.
