Crustacean Croquettes

Ingredients

  • 1 pound cooked crab meat
  • 1/2 pound cooked shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the crab meat, shrimp, onion, celery, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into small patties or balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.
  4. Dredge each croquette in the flour, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  5. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the croquettes in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Transfer the cooked croquettes to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve the crustacean croquettes hot with your favorite dipping sauce or a squeeze of lemon.
