Ingredients

  • 4 cups water

  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cold water

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine the pitted cherries, water, sugar, and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the sour cream and flour with cold water until smooth. Slowly pour this mixture into the simmering soup, stirring constantly.
  3. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes, then remove the cinnamon stick and let the soup cool to room temperature.
  4. Refrigerate the soup for at least 2 hours before serving.
