Cumi Balado (spicy Squid Balado)

Ingredients

  • 500g squid, cleaned and cut into rings
  • 5 shallots, finely chopped
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 5 red chilies, finely sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 1 tsp tamarind paste
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and fry the squid until golden brown. Set aside.
  2. In the same pan, sauté the shallots, garlic, and red chilies until fragrant.
  3. Add the tomatoes, tamarind paste, sugar, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
  4. Add the fried squid to the pan and toss to coat with the spicy sauce.
  5. Simmer for a few minutes before removing from heat.
