Ingredients

  • 4 medium-sized squid, cleaned and tentacles removed
  • 200g ground chicken
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 red chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon shrimp paste
  • 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 4 skewers

Instructions

  1. Clean the squid and pat dry. Set aside.
  2. In a bowl, mix the ground chicken, onion, garlic, red chilies, shrimp paste, tamarind paste, sugar, and salt.
  3. Stuff the squid with the chicken mixture and secure the opening with a skewer.
  4. Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the stuffed squid and cook until the squid is cooked through and the filling is golden brown.
  5. Remove the squid from the pan and set aside.
  6. In the same pan, add the remaining chicken mixture and cook until fragrant.
  7. Add water and simmer until the sauce thickens.
  8. Pour the spicy sauce over the stuffed squid and serve hot.
