Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until well combined.
  2. Heat the milk in a saucepan over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
  3. Slowly pour the hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the custard mixture into individual ramekins or custard cups.
  6. Place the ramekins in a baking dish and fill the dish with hot water to reach halfway up the sides of the ramekins.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes, or until the custard is set around the edges but still slightly wobbly in the center.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the custard cups cool. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
