Czech Garlic Soup (Česnečka)
Česnečka is a traditional Czech garlic soup that is simple, comforting, and packed with flavor. This soup is perfect for cold winter days or whenever you need a warm and hearty meal.
Ingredients
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 6 cups vegetable broth
- 2 large potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- 1 teaspoon marjoram
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices of bread
- 4 eggs
Instructions
- In a large pot, sauté the minced garlic until fragrant.
- Add the vegetable broth, diced potatoes, caraway seeds, and marjoram. Season with salt and pepper.
- Simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the potatoes are tender.
- While the soup is simmering, toast the bread slices and poach the eggs.
- Place a slice of toasted bread in each serving bowl and ladle the soup over the bread.
- Top each bowl with a poached egg and serve hot.
