Daal Sabzi (hazaragi Lentil And Vegetable Curry)
Daal Sabzi is a traditional Hazaragi dish that combines lentils and vegetables in a flavorful curry. This hearty and nutritious dish is a staple in Hazaragi cuisine, known for its rich and aromatic flavors.
Ingredients
- 1 cup red lentils
- 2 potatoes, diced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt to taste
- 4 cups water
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- Rinse the lentils and soak them in water for 15 minutes.
- In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the diced potatoes and cook for 5 minutes.
- Stir in the chopped tomatoes, turmeric, cumin, coriander, chili powder, and salt. Cook for another 5 minutes.
- Drain the soaked lentils and add them to the pot. Pour in the water and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the lentils and vegetables are tender.
- Adjust the seasoning if needed, and serve hot.
