Dahi Chicken (yoghurt-marinated Chicken)
Dahi Chicken, also known as Yoghurt-Marinated Chicken, is a popular dish in Nepalese cuisine. The chicken is marinated in a mixture of yoghurt and spices, resulting in a tender and flavorful dish.
Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 cup plain yoghurt
- 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix yoghurt, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt.
- Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and coat them well. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onion until golden brown.
- Add the marinated chicken and cook until the chicken is almost done.
- Add the tomato puree and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked and the gravy thickens.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
