Dahi Chicken (yoghurt-marinated Chicken)

Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup plain yoghurt
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix yoghurt, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and coat them well. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onion until golden brown.
  4. Add the marinated chicken and cook until the chicken is almost done.
  5. Add the tomato puree and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked and the gravy thickens.
  6. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
