Dairy-free Baked Falafel
This Dairy-Free Baked Falafel recipe is a delicious and healthy option for a plant-based meal. Made with chickpeas and a blend of flavorful herbs and spices, these falafels are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
Ingredients
- 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/4 cup chickpea flour (or all-purpose flour)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, parsley, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, cayenne pepper, chickpea flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Pulse until the mixture is well combined but still slightly chunky.
- Scoop out about 2 tablespoons of the mixture and form it into a ball, then flatten slightly to create a patty. Repeat with the remaining mixture.
- Place the falafel patties on the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with olive oil.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the falafels are golden and crispy.
- Serve the falafels with your favorite dipping sauce or in a pita with fresh veggies and tahini sauce.
