Dairy-free Falafel With Tahini Sauce
Falafel is a popular Middle Eastern dish made from chickpeas or fava beans, and it's typically deep-fried. This dairy-free version of falafel is just as delicious and is served with a creamy tahini sauce. It's a perfect option for those with lactose intolerance or following a dairy-free diet.
Ingredients
- 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2-3 tbsp chickpea flour
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 cup tahini
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2-3 tbsp water
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, cumin, coriander, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Pulse until the mixture is finely chopped but not pureed.
- Transfer the mixture to a bowl and stir in the chickpea flour until the mixture holds together. You may need to add more flour if the mixture is too wet.
- Form the mixture into small balls and flatten slightly into patties.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the falafel patties for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- While the falafel is cooking, make the tahini sauce by whisking together the tahini, lemon juice, water, and salt until smooth.
- Serve the falafel with the tahini sauce and enjoy!
