Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 3 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is soft and translucent.
- Add the chicken pieces to the pot and cook until they are browned on all sides.
- Stir in the ground turmeric, cumin, coriander, paprika, cinnamon, and cloves, and cook for 2 minutes to toast the spices.
- Add the cubed potatoes, chicken broth, salt, and pepper to the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the potatoes are tender.
- Stir in the chopped cilantro and adjust the seasoning if needed. Serve the Dajaj Bil Batata hot with steamed rice or warm flatbread.
