Dajaj Qeema is a traditional Iraqi chicken curry dish that is packed with aromatic spices and flavors. This hearty and comforting dish is perfect for a cozy family dinner or a special gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 2 green chilies, chopped
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onions until golden brown.
- Add the garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Sauté for a few minutes.
- Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are no longer pink.
- Stir in the cumin, coriander, turmeric, and red chili powder. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Pour in the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates.
- Add garam masala, salt, and chopped cilantro. Mix well.
- Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.
- Serve hot with rice or bread.
