Dakbokkeumtang (닭볶음탕)
닭볶음탕 (Dakbokkeumtang) is a popular spicy chicken dish in Koryo-saram cuisine, known for its bold flavors and tender chicken.
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 onion, sliced
- 4-5 green onions, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 5-6 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 cup gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp cooking oil
- 2 cups water
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat cooking oil over medium heat.
- Add chicken pieces and cook until browned.
- Add sliced onion, green onions, and minced garlic. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix gochujang, soy sauce, sugar, and sesame oil. Pour the mixture over the chicken.
- Add water to the pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 45-50 minutes.
- Uncover the pot and cook for an additional 10 minutes to thicken the sauce.
- Serve hot with steamed rice.
