Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4-5 green onions, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 5-6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat cooking oil over medium heat.
  2. Add chicken pieces and cook until browned.
  3. Add sliced onion, green onions, and minced garlic. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, mix gochujang, soy sauce, sugar, and sesame oil. Pour the mixture over the chicken.
  5. Add water to the pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 45-50 minutes.
  6. Uncover the pot and cook for an additional 10 minutes to thicken the sauce.
  7. Serve hot with steamed rice.
