Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 5-6 garlic cloves, minced

- 2-3 hot peppers, sliced (optional for extra spiciness)
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes)
- 3 tablespoons gochujang (Korean red pepper paste)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 cups water
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine the chicken, onion, garlic, ginger, green onions, and hot peppers.
- In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, gochugaru, gochujang, sugar, and sesame oil. Pour this sauce over the chicken and vegetables in the pot.
- Add water to the pot and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 30-40 minutes or until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
- Serve the spicy braised chicken hot with steamed rice.
