Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 4 potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 green onions, chopped
  • 6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes)
  • 3 tbsp gochujang (Korean red pepper paste)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 6 cups water
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine the chicken, potatoes, carrots, onion, green onions, and garlic.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the gochugaru, gochujang, soy sauce, sugar, and sesame oil. Pour this mixture over the chicken and vegetables in the pot.
  3. Add water to the pot and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 1 hour, or until the chicken is fully cooked and the vegetables are tender.
  4. Season with salt to taste and serve hot with steamed rice.
