Dal Aloo Pakora is a popular dish in Tripuri Cuisine, known for its crispy and flavorful fritters made with lentils and potatoes. These fritters are perfect as a snack or appetizer, especially during the monsoon season.
Ingredients
- 1 cup split red lentils
- 2 medium potatoes, peeled and grated
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Rinse the lentils and soak them in water for 2 hours. Drain well.
- In a large bowl, mix the drained lentils, grated potatoes, chopped onion, green chilies, cilantro, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well to form a thick batter.
- Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
- Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the pakoras from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
