Dal Aloo Pakora (lentil And Potato Fritters)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup split red lentils
  • 2 medium potatoes, peeled and grated
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Rinse the lentils and soak them in water for 2 hours. Drain well.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the drained lentils, grated potatoes, chopped onion, green chilies, cilantro, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well to form a thick batter.
  3. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove the pakoras from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  6. Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
