Dal Palak Pakora (lentil And Spinach Fritters)
Dal Palak Pakora is a popular dish from Tripuri Cuisine, made with lentils and spinach. These crispy fritters are perfect as a snack or appetizer, especially during the monsoon season.
Ingredients
- 1 cup split red lentils
- 1 cup chopped spinach leaves
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Rinse the lentils and soak them in water for 2 hours. Drain the water afterwards.
- In a blender, grind the lentils into a coarse paste without adding any water.
- Transfer the lentil paste to a mixing bowl and add chopped spinach, onion, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
- Heat oil in a deep pan for frying.
- Scoop spoonfuls of the mixture and carefully drop them into the hot oil. Fry until the pakoras are golden and crispy.
- Remove the pakoras from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
