Dal Palak Pakora is a popular dish from Tripuri Cuisine, made with lentils and spinach. These crispy fritters are perfect as a snack or appetizer, especially during the monsoon season.

Dal Palak Pakora (lentil And Spinach Fritters)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup split red lentils
  • 1 cup chopped spinach leaves
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Rinse the lentils and soak them in water for 2 hours. Drain the water afterwards.
  2. In a blender, grind the lentils into a coarse paste without adding any water.
  3. Transfer the lentil paste to a mixing bowl and add chopped spinach, onion, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan for frying.
  5. Scoop spoonfuls of the mixture and carefully drop them into the hot oil. Fry until the pakoras are golden and crispy.
  6. Remove the pakoras from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
