Dal Pitha (spiced Lentil Pancakes)
Dal Pitha is a traditional spiced lentil pancake from Navyath Muslim Cuisine that is perfect for a delicious and wholesome meal.
Ingredients
- 1 cup yellow lentils
- 1 cup rice flour
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
- Oil for cooking
Instructions
- Wash and soak the lentils for 2 hours. Drain the water and grind the lentils into a smooth paste.
- In a bowl, mix the lentil paste, rice flour, chopped onion, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Add water gradually to make a thick batter.
- Heat a non-stick pan and grease it with oil. Pour a ladleful of batter and spread it into a round shape. Cook on medium heat until both sides are golden brown.
- Repeat the process with the remaining batter to make more pancakes.
- Serve the Dal Pitha hot with chutney or yogurt.
