Dal Pitha (spiced Lentil Pancakes)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellow lentils
  • 1 cup rice flour
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • Oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak the lentils for 2 hours. Drain the water and grind the lentils into a smooth paste.
  2. In a bowl, mix the lentil paste, rice flour, chopped onion, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Add water gradually to make a thick batter.
  3. Heat a non-stick pan and grease it with oil. Pour a ladleful of batter and spread it into a round shape. Cook on medium heat until both sides are golden brown.
  4. Repeat the process with the remaining batter to make more pancakes.
  5. Serve the Dal Pitha hot with chutney or yogurt.
