Dal Sabzi Samosa (lentil And Vegetable Samosas)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellow lentils, cooked and mashed
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, potatoes), finely chopped
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 12 samosa pastry sheets

Instructions

  1. In a pan, heat the vegetable oil and add the cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the onions, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until the onions are translucent.
  2. Add the mixed vegetables and cook until they are tender.
  3. Stir in the mashed lentils, garam masala, turmeric, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes. Remove from heat and let the filling cool.
  4. Take a samosa pastry sheet and fold it into a cone shape. Fill the cone with the lentil and vegetable mixture and seal the edges using a flour-water paste.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the samosas until they are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove the samosas from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with chutney or sauce of your choice.
