Ingredients

  • 2-3 tablespoons ice water
  • 1 1/2 pounds fresh figs, stemmed and halved
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, combine the flour, powdered sugar, and salt. Add the cold butter and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Gradually add the ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, and pulse until the dough comes together.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a disk. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and transfer it to a 9-inch tart pan. Press the dough into the bottom and sides of the pan, trimming any excess.
  6. Arrange the figs in the tart shell, cut side up.
  7. In a small saucepan, combine the honey, water, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. Heat over medium heat until the mixture is smooth and slightly thickened.
  8. Drizzle the honey mixture over the figs and sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
  9. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the figs are tender.
  10. Allow the tart to cool before serving.
