Ingredients
- 4 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples with 1/4 cup of the sugar and the ground cinnamon. Set aside.
- In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, remaining 3/4 cup sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the flour, baking powder, and salt to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, and mix until smooth.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared cake pan. Arrange half of the apple slices on top. Pour the remaining batter over the apples and arrange the remaining slices on top.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
