Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons caraway seeds
Instructions
- In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Stir in the sugar, salt, and caraway seeds.
- Gradually add the flour, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 6-8 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch the dough down, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- Cover and let it rise again for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the bread for 40-45 minutes or until it sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Remove the bread from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
