Danish Plum Compote (Sveskegrød)

Ingredients

  • 1 kg fresh plums, pitted and halved
  • 200g granulated sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine the plums, sugar, cinnamon stick, vanilla extract, and water.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the plums are soft and the liquid has thickened.
  3. Remove the cinnamon stick and allow the compote to cool slightly before serving.
