Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp ground allspice
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the ground beef, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, black pepper, and salt. Shape the mixture into meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides, then remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the crushed tomatoes, beef broth, tomato paste, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Return the meatballs to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
- Serve the meatballs with the sauce, accompanied by rice or bread.
