Ingredients

  • 1 cup long-grain rice
  • 500g ground lamb
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup pine nuts
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 jar of grape leaves, drained and rinsed
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the rice, ground lamb, onion, pine nuts, parsley, mint, allspice, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.
  2. Place a grape leaf on a flat surface, shiny side down. Place a small amount of the rice and lamb mixture in the center of the leaf. Fold the sides of the leaf over the filling, then roll it up tightly.
  3. Repeat with the remaining grape leaves and filling mixture.
  4. Arrange the stuffed grape leaves in a large pot, seam side down. Pour the chicken broth and lemon juice over the grape leaves.
  5. Cover the pot and cook over low heat for 1 hour, or until the rice is tender and the grape leaves are cooked through.
  6. Once cooked, remove the grape leaves from the pot and arrange them on a serving platter. Serve hot and enjoy!
