Delicia De Quesillo (quesillo Delight)
Delicia de Quesillo, also known as Quesillo Delight, is a traditional Venezuelan dessert that is rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. This sweet treat is a must-try for anyone who loves caramel and creamy desserts.
Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 6 large eggs
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water. Cook over medium heat, swirling the pan occasionally, until the sugar is completely dissolved and turns into a golden caramel. Pour the caramel into a 9-inch round cake pan, tilting the pan to evenly coat the bottom. Set aside to cool.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a blender, combine the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.
- Pour the mixture over the cooled caramel in the cake pan.
- Cover the cake pan with aluminum foil and place it in a larger baking dish. Fill the larger dish with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the cake pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the center is set.
- Remove the cake pan from the water bath and let it cool to room temperature. Then refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
- To serve, run a knife around the edge of the cake pan and invert the quesillo onto a serving plate. The caramel will flow over the top, creating a beautiful glaze.
