Delicious Tomato Onion Chutney (ಟೊಮೇಟೊ ಈರುಳ್ಳಿ ಚಟ್ನಿ)

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2-3 dry red chilies
  • 1/2 teaspoon urad dal
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
  • 5-6 curry leaves
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add urad dal, mustard seeds, dry red chilies, and curry leaves. Sauté until the dal turns golden brown.
  2. Add sliced onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
  3. Now, add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
  4. Add salt and hing, then turn off the heat and allow the mixture to cool.
  5. Once cooled, blend the mixture into a smooth chutney using a blender or food processor.
  6. Transfer the chutney to a serving bowl and it's ready to be enjoyed!
