Delightful Hyderabadi Baghara Rice
Delightful Hyderabadi Baghara Rice is a traditional rice dish from the Hyderabadi cuisine, known for its rich flavors and aromatic spices.
Ingredients
- 2 cups basmati rice, washed and soaked
- 3 tablespoons ghee
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, beans)
- 4 cups water
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat ghee over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add green chilies and sliced onion. Sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
- Stir in ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Add the mixed vegetables and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
- Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pot. Sauté for 2 minutes.
- Pour in the water, add salt, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
